Man ambushed and beaten in his own home

A HUCKNALL man was ambushed, beaten and robbed in his own home in an horrific attack last weekend.

Now detectives have launched an appeal for help in hunting down the two men responsible for the attack.

The 51-year-old victim was targeted at his house on Papplewick Lane, close to the junction with Hayden Lane, after returning home at about 11.40 pm on Saturday November 26.

It is believed the assailants had laid in wait in the man’s garden.

They threatened him with a knife and then beat him up after gaining access to the property.

The offenders escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, jewellery and a mobile phone. They left the scene after 15-to-20 minutes.

Both attackers are described as white, of medium build and between 5’9” and 5’11” tall.

They were wearing dark-coloured clothes and their faces were covered.

They both spoke with what are believed to be Irish accents. One of them is described as having bright blue eyes.

The victim received treatment at the scene from paramedics for bruising. No one else was at the house at the time of the attack.

Anyone who might have seen anything or anyone suspicious on Papplewick Lane last Saturday night or in the early hours of last Sunday should ring Ashfield South CID on 101 (extension 804 4737).
