Man avoids jail after assault on his partner

A Sutton dad was given a conditional discharge after admitting pushing his partner over, causing injuries to her hip during an argument.

Mansfield magistrates heard how the woman had bruising to her hip as a result of the fall during the assault by Edward Bowler (24), of Langford Street, on 15th August.

Eileen Stewart, prosecuting, said: “The assault was down to drink and family issues with his four-year-old son.”

Treve Lander, defending, said Bowler had shoved the woman after she slapped him

“He accepts he punched her too hard but said he did not mean too hurt her,” said Mr Lander.

Bowler was also ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and warned not to re-offend.
