Man charged with sex offences in Nottinghamshire children’s homes abuse investigation

A man has been charged with several sexual offences, after an investigation led by Operation Daybreak officers.

Ivan Bethell, 61, of Barnhill Road, Wembley, is set to appear at Mansfield Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 25 February).

He is charged with two counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, two counts of rape of a female aged under 16, one count of gross indecency with a girl under 14, two counts of inciting an act of gross indecency with a girl under 14, and three counts of incite a girl under 14 to commit an act of gross indecency.

All the offences relate to one victim.

Operation Daybreak is an investigation into abuse at a number of children’s homes in Nottingham. In the course of their enquiries, a number of other offences not related to abuse in children’s homes are being investigated.
