Man injured in hammer attack on Sutton Lawn

A man is in hospital after being attacked by a group of men wielding a hammer and baseball bats in a Sutton park.

It happened at around 1.20pm on Wednesday (12th November) on Sutton Lawn, off Station Road.

Police say three or four men attacked the 35-year-old using what is believed to have been a hammer and baseball bats.

He was left with broken ribs and injuries to his face.

He remains at Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre in a stable condition.

PC Sandeep Mann said: “The swelling to the victim’s face is so bad it’s not yet clear the full extent of his injuries, but he is alive. The use of weapons to administer the blows could easily have had a more sinister outcome. Help us find the culprits.

“We are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to residents in the local area, but if you were in the vicinity of the park at the time, and saw anything unusual or suspicious, call us.

“Incidents of this level of violence are uncommon in the town, but in a bid to provide reassurance and deter further crime patrols have been increased in the area.”
