Mansfield and Ashfield: Hundreds attend jobs fairs

Jobs fairs held in Mansfield and Ashfield saw a huge turn out with more than 600 jobseekers attending each of the events.

Put on by Mansfield and Ashfield District Councils, Vision West Nottinghamshire College and Jobcentre Plus, they aimed to raise the awareness of opportunities in the area.

Jobseekers were able to find out about new career pathways, volunteering, job vacancies, apprenticeships, self-employment and seek career advice.

The Mansfield jobs fair was held on Thursday 26th September with the Ashfield date on 19th September .

Michelle Place, the Widening Participation Project lead for the NHS, one of the many organisations in attendance, said: “I know some people, who would have been put off by the application form, will now apply for a role in the NHS following advice from us at the event.”

Councillor Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration at Mansfield District Council said: “We received lots of excellent feedback, with some obtaining employment and others now looking to retrain to pursue a new career.”
