Mansfield, Ashfield and Hucknall residents warned over carpet clean scam

Nottinghamshire residents are being warned about a potential scam involving a prize draw that leads to a free carpet clean.

The council is aware of this scam being perpetrated around the UK, which leads to the trader using aggressive selling tactics to force their victims into buying over-priced products that are often not needed.

Coun Glynn Gilfoyle, Chair of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Community Safety Committee, said: “The free carpet clean scam is an opportunity for unscrupulous traders to get into your home and try and sell you unnecessary goods or services.

“We advise residents not to purchase anything from cold callers and if a trader is in your house you have the right to ask them to leave – if they don’t they are committing an offence.”
