Mansfield bouncer is bailed over sickening assault

Nottingham Crown Court was told this week how George Fessey (25), of Oaktree Close, Swadlincote, picked up the reveller ‘like a lifeless doll’ after the assault on 29th December last year.

His victim, 19 year-old Rory Davis, who was a call taker at Mansfield’s 652 Taxis at the time, would now need a titanium plate fitting to his depressed skull.

He also suffers from slurred speech and is on medication for epilepsy.

The jury found Fessey not guilty on 11th December of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. But he had already pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of simple grievous bodily harm.

Judge Andrew Hamilton decided to bail Fessey until 20th January for sentencing as he had a four-year-old child and a stepchild, stating it was awful for children if an adult was missing at this time of year.

He agreed with the prosecuting counsel that the offence was towards the top of its category.

He said the starting point would have been five years if Fessey had been convicted of the more serious charge.
