Mansfield festivals have been a soaring success

The weather just held out for the final festival at Carr Lane Park in Warsop last week which was enjoyed by around 500 people.

Portfolio holder for the environment, Councillor Andrew Tristram, said: “It was great to see how well turned out the parks looked at these festivals and good to see so many people coming together and enjoying the festival atmosphere.”

The first of the festivals was held on July 27 at King George V Park, in Mansfield and was attended by some 600 people.

The biggest crowd was at the second of the festivals at Titchfield Park on August 12 which had about 900 visitors.

The events were packed with fun, free entertainment for all the family - even the dog.

Visitors were able to enjoy bird of prey flying demonstrations, sports activities, circus skills workshops, and mini dog shows.

There was also an opportunity to take part in arts and crafts, face-painting or come face to face with snakes, scorpions and cockroaches on the ‘Meet the Beast’ stall.

At King George V Park there was an opportunity to have a go at archery and at Carr Lane festival a chance to try a BMX bike taster session.

At the Titchfield Park festival, run in conjunction with Mansfield Museum’s Mining Gala, there were pit pony rides as well as a duck race.
