MANSFIELD: Inclusive Valentine’s at St Mark’s

Rachel Mann, Manchester Cathedral’s poet in residence and author of biography “Dazzling Darkness”, will be speaking at Mansfield’s St Mark’s Church at 4pm on Sunday 16th February to celebrate a very different kind of Valentine’s Day event.

“All God’s Family: Celebrating Love, Embracing Difference” hosted by St Mark’s will be an opportunity to invite people of all faiths and good faith to find out more about “Inclusive Church” and think about how we can be a more compassionate and inclusive town, a spokesman said.

It’s also an opportunity to hear poetry, song, and prayer in a way which aims to be accessible to all.

“This Valentine’s weekend I hope we go beyond the romantic towards the radical love of God which values everyone regardless of how rich or poor, race, disability, sexual orientation or learning difficulty,” said Rev Keith Hebden, “This is something I’ve wanted to do ever since our church council voted unanimously to be an “Inclusive Church” and Valentine’s Day seemed a great time to do it. I’m chuffed to bits that Rachel Mann can be with us with her humour and wisdom and know it’ll be a great Mansfield occasion.”

Inclusive Church is a network of churches, from different traditions who have formally signed up to working hard at making sure no one feels like an outsider in church.
