Police stopped the car on Chesterfield Road North, at 9.30pm on February 23, and, noticing a strong smell of cannabis, asked who was carrying it.

Passenger Reece Francis-Wint produced a small orange tube containing a snall amount of the drug, and later told officers he had bought it for £30 and that he smoked around £10 per day.

The 18-year-old, of Newgate Lane, admitted possessing the Class B drug, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Friday.

Rebecca Williams, mitigating, said: “He does smoke cannabis on a daily basis and it was a small amount for personal use.”

He was fined £80 and was ordered to pay a £30 government surcharge and £85 costs.
