Mansfield man threatened to harm himself with a knife

A Mansfield man who threatened to harm himself with a knife in his home and then drove off while drunk has been given a suspended sentence.

Jacky Patrick Colbert, 27 of Ruskin Road, pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place and driving a motor vehicle above the legal alcohol limit, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court was told Colbert’s partner called the police when he returned home drunk in the afternoon of June 29. He did not threaten her or their child. He then drove off and was stopped by police.

Colbert, who said he was dealing with mental health issues was given an eight-week suspended sentence and a three-year driving ban.
