Kenny James Stevenson, 26, of Shardlow Way, Mansfield, admitted failing to attend post-sentence supervision dates on February 23, and March 4, 11 and 23.

Cheryl Nisbet, of the probation service, said: “Quite simply Mr Stevenson hasn’t been seen or had any contact with us since the middle of February. It’s a clear case of deliberate noncompliance.”

Tom Oates, mitigating, said: “He accepts it is no excuse but he has gone through a difficult time.”

He said that Stevenson split up with his partner who had her children, including Stevenson’s two-year-old son, taken into care by social services. He had also recently lost his job.

“That hit him very hard,” said Mr Oates. “He started drinking and smoking marijuana and admits that he lost it.”

Magistrates returned him to prison for 14 days.
