Mansfield Partnership Against Crime hold a week of action in Oak Tree, Mansfield

Police firefighters, neighbourhood wardens and dog control officers joined Oak Tree residents in a week of action to tackle crime and make the area safer and cleaner.

Drugs raids speed checks, litter picks, estate walkabouts and a fun-filled community event were all part of a Mansfield Partnership Against Crime (MPAC) intitiative.

Coun Mick Barton, MDC Portfolio Holder for Public Protection, said: “The Community Engagement Team did a wonderful job, involving many partners and getting them to deliver a wide range of actions.

Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Officers made visits to Oak Tree Primary School and Fritchley Court to talk about fire safety.

Advice was also provided during the week by MDC’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team through a drop-in session at Barrow Hill Community Centre.

Neighbourhood Wardens carried out hot spot patrols, and were joined by housing officers, cleansing team staff, the Dog Control Officer and Oak Tree Conservation Group which ran two litter picks.

Enforcement action was a part of the week too, with the police carrying out drugs raids and operating speed checks. A spokesman said the results of these are still to be collated.

Goody bags containing personal alarms, UV pens, purse bells and information leaflets were handed out to attendees at a community event hosted by Oak Tree Children’s Centre.

A police car and a fire appliance were there for the children to have a look at and sit in and MDC’s Domestic Violence Prevention Officer also went along.
