Mansfield: Poppy’s in bloom as Chad’s Cutest Kid

It’s nothing new for the Chad’s Cutest Kid 2013 to be the centre of attention. Poppy Freya Samson, of Mansfield, made quiet some entry into the world, with proud mum Amanda Beadle giving birth on the bathroom floor.

“It seems that Poppy was in quite some rush to get here - and that’s why we called her Poppy, because she popped out really quickly,” said Amanda.

“It was a grand entrance, so already in her short time she’s used to making an impression. As parents we think she is beautiful and it’s nice to know that everyone else think she is cute too.”

Poppy was an entrant into the 0-5 months category and received plenty of support during the voting from relatives and friends and work colleagues of the family.

Amanda added: “I was really pleased, a bit shocked and really quite emotional when I found out Poppy had won.

“I have been saving all the papers and we’re very proud of her and hopefully she will be proud too when she is old enough to understand.”

In July and August we launched our 2013 competition with photographic sessions at the Four Seasons Shopping Centre in Mansfield and the Idlewells Shopping Centre in Sutton, where children from new-borns up to five-year-olds were captured on camera.

Then in September we gave you the chance to vote for your favourite child in our heats before whittling down our entries to crown our winning child. All photographs for the competition were taken by local company Studio Twenty-4.

Each week we ran a feature with our different age categories starting with the 0-5 months, then the 6-11 months, followed by the 12-23 months and finally the 2-5 years. The children with the most votes from all the categories were then placed into our Top 30, then we featured our top 20 and finally our top 10.

Amanda will receive a £50 voucher courtesy of Frankie & Benny’s, a family ticket to see the upcoming Disney on Ice production Dare to Dream at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield and a gift from Tomy’s nursery and toys collection.
