MANSFIELD: Prayer vigil planned for the weekend

The event marks a global week of vigils against corruption that sees Christians praying in over 2,000 events for “Exposed”.

The service will take place at the St John’s Centre on Wood Street at 6pm Sunday 20th October and will include a short address from the Executive Mayor, Tony Egginton who will attend the vigil.

Mayor Egginton said: “It will be a pleasure to go along to St John’s to join others in a vigil to pray about corruption and poverty and to explore through true partnership working what can be achieved collectively to address these issues which cause so much hardship to families.”

Rev Keith Hebden, who organised the event with members of St John’s, added: “For Christians, Jesus is often talked about as a ‘Light to the World’. We want that light to shine wherever a shadow economy and government works against the needs of the many for the greed of the few.”
