Mansfield pub ready to put food on menu

The Cuckoo Birch on Jubilee Way South of the Oak Tree Lane estate is being converted from a traditional local to an eating establishment.

A facelift will see the venue boast a new-look dining area and outside terrace for use in the summer.

However, a separate bar area will remain for drinkers, which is staying open throughout the refurbishment work.

The new part of the pub will re-open with an invitation-only night on Saturday before doors are thrown open for Sunday lunch.

“Our food on Sundays has always gone down pretty well, so this is an extension of that through the rest of the week,” said landlord of 11 years Ian Price, who formerly ran the Queen’s Head pub in Mansfield town centre.

“We are celebrating by offering 25 per cent off food in the first month for customers old and new.”

Two new chefs have been employed to put together a brand new menu, which will feature a specials board.

Landlady Jackie Eaton added: “We have always struggled with the look and the image of the place, but with the work that has been done and the changes being made, we are trying hard to change that.

“The menu has been carefully chosen and we hope it appeals to a wide range of tastes.”
