Mansfield refugee aid group has a huge response

A group of former school friends have raised more than £1,000 and hundreds of parcels of food, clothing tents and toiletries to help people caught up in the refugee crisis.
A campaign involving local firms &  the people of Mansfield has seen the donation of a load of items to help the Refugees both a Calais & at Airports
Sean O'Connor, boss of a local Removals company has offered to deliver the items to those in need.

Former All Saints School pupils Kate Ryan, Marie Higgins and Spencer Preuett, received a huge response when they set up their Facebook page Mansfield Appeal Aid For Refugees which now has more than 700 members.

Eight Mansfield businesses have joined forces to help the campaign which is ready to dispatch the aid thanks to Sean O’Connor and Co professional removals of Forest Town who have provided vans and drivers.

Kate Ryan, 38 of Whitegates Estate agents said: “We all became aware through reports how bad the situation was an dall three of us decided to do something about it.

“The response we have had has been unbelievable. the people and businesses of Mansfield have been fantastic.”

At their base at edwinstowe House , Edwinstowe the volunteers have packed approximately 400 boxes of supplies including second had clothing, blankets and bedding, tents and camping equipment.

They have also bagged up toiletries, sanitary products, toothpaste shampoo and babies clothes.

Removal expert Sean O’ Connor said: “My partner Hayley Jordan saw the post on Facebook I offered some of my vehicles to transport the aid over.

“I have a two year old son myself and after seeing the young lad washed up on the beach it really got to me. “I just wanted to help as much as possible.”

Just Move Estate Agents, Whitegates Estate Agents , Higgifit Lifestyle, Location Estates Agents , Bilton Hammond solicitors, David Blount estate agents, Stopfords Associates and Si Consultancy have all made donations.
