Mansfield school’s cookies for CAFOD

Students and staff in Caritas House at All Saints’ Catholic School in Mansfield organised a charity project to raise funds for CAFOD, the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development, a charity which works to ensure children in developing countries have increasing access to clean water, education and healthcare.

Inspired by the ‘Great British Bake Off’ students designed their own shortbread cookies based on the Sesame Street character of Elmo who is the Caritas House Mascot. Students then baked and iced their cookies for a small donation and made large amounts to sell to other students at break and lunch times raising over £120.

The ingredients were very kindly donated by Aldi and Sainsbury’s stores in Mansfield to ensure as much money as possible was raised.

A spokesman for the school said they were proud of the students and the way in which they have given up their own time after school to make and sell the biscuits, and support the charity showing completed dedication and maturity.

Pictured are some of the many students who were involved in the baking, icing and selling of the biscuits.
