Mansfield: Stags bookboosts goodcause funds

Volunteers from the charities who collected £1,250 each from money raised by a Mansfield Town book have expressed their gratitude for the fundraising effort.

Stag Party: The Inside Story of Mansfield Town’s Return to the Football League, written by Matt Halfpenny, charts the club’s memorable promotion at the end of last season.

More than 400 of the 500 copies printed have already been sold, with £2,500 raised for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s Prostate Cancer Appeal, charities chosen by Matt’s parents Paul and Jennifer.

“We rely entirely on donations to keep running, so people like Matt are our heroes,” said Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance’s Mike Robinson.

And Dave Laughlin, representing Nottingham Hospitals Charity, added: “Having recovered from the cancer myself, I know just how important fundraising like this is.”

Book sale proceeds from hereon in will go to the Emma Stamp Charitable Trust.

Remaining copies are on sale in the club shop or online at www.stagsclubshop.com
