Mansfield: Woman fined for littering offence

A Mansfield woman was ordered to pay £215 in costs after she admitted failing to dispose of her household waste correctly.

Sara Asher, 23, of Clayworth Court, Mansfield, appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court last Thursday (23rd January).

She was found guilty of breaching the Household Duty of Care by failing to dispose correctly of a white plastic box, a bed frame, a tent and black water tanks, on or before 6 May 2013 and was also given a conditional discharge.

“I welcome this prosecution and hope it sends out a message,” said coun Mick Barton, portfolio holder for public protection at Mansfield District Council.

“As a householder, you are required to take reasonable steps to check that people removing waste from your premises are authorised to do so and dumping rubbish, or allowing it to be dumped, is unacceptable.”

The council operates a bulky items waste collection service.
