Life changed forever for Gareth Bull and his wife Catherine when they scooped a cool £40.6m on 20th January 2012.

The then self-employed builder - who already lived in a purpose-built, dream home with his wife and their two young children - bought his ticket on a whim when he could not start a building job because of bad weather.

Now nearly three years on, Gareth has featured in a special glamour shoot with 19 other jackpot winners to mark the 20th anniversary of the National Lottery.

He said: “Since winning we’ve been able to take our foot off the peddle a bit and relish life more.

“We’ve always worked hard as a couple and it’s fantastic to be able to spend time doing things with our boys.

“We also believe it’s important to give something back and are involved with various charities as well as taking an active part in our local community by doing voluntary work at our the Debdale Park Sports & Recreational Club, which we really enjoy.”

Gareth and Catherine have spent their winnings on treating their family as well as themselves - purchasing the new Range Rover Autobiography as well as a Mercedes 350.

The couple have also enjoyed several holidays to Mexico and Egypt, as well as buying themselves the luxury Villa in Tenerife.

They are among more than 3,700 millionaires created since the National Lottery was launched 20 years ago today (Wednesday).

Since then, £53bn has been paid out in prizes - while £32bn has helped projects and charities in the UK.
