Mansfield’s golden swimmer Rebecca Adlington is pregnant

She confirmed that she and her husband of three months Harry Needs are expecting their first child in an exclusive interview with Hello magazine.

“The due date is 4th June so, yes, we must have conceived on the first day of our honeymoon in Venice,” Rebecca told Hello.

Rebecca, who shot to fame when she won two gold medals at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, said she was relieved to see a heartbeat at her latest scan.

She said: “I think you feel such a responsibility as the woman because you are the one looking after the baby. So Harry was more excited but I was more nervous.”

The former Brunts School pupil also won two bronze medals at the London 2012 Games.

She also appeared on ITV’s hit reality show, I’m A Celebrity reality show, last year.
