Mercedez Benz show support for Portland College charity match at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium

Portland College’s ambitious £2m fundraising campaign has shifted into high gear after securing a major sponsor for their inaugural Charity Cup football match.

Mercedez Benz of Doncaster has pledged their support to the life-changing fundraising initiative, which aims to raise £2m to develop a state-of-the-art disabled sports centre.

The facility will provide modern and much-needed facilities for disabled sports competitors on a local and national level and act as a community hub for groups around Mansfield and Ashfield.

The Charity Cup match takes place at the Keepmoat Stadium, home of Doncaster Rovers Football Club, on 16th May 2014.

The College community will also have a key involvement in the day, with students providing half-time entertainment and participants from the National Citizen Service programme getting involved in promoting and selling refreshments and merchandise to spectators.

Mercedez Benz will offer the top fundraiser from the two playing squads use of a Mercedez SLK a weekend of their choice.

Andrea Hudson, fundraiser at Portland College said, “We are indebted to Mercedez for their support and the very generous prize they have donated for the Charity Cup.

“The match promises to be a great event and one that the whole Portland College community and supporters can get involved in and enjoy.

“The squads are already being competitive and trying to outdo each other with their fundraising, so the sparks could really fly on the pitch too!!”

Portland College are still looking for companies to add their support to the Charity Cup, and there are a number of sponsorship packages available.

Andrea added: “We are hoping more companies will get involved and show their support for the match and the work Portland College does. There will be lots of PR around the match, so plenty of exposure for your company and the benefit of being associated with a superb charity.”

Tickets have now gone on sale for the match at the bargain price of £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.

Donations to the Inclusive Sports Academy appeal can be made by calling the fundraising team at Portland College on 01623 499141 or by visiting www.portland.ac.uk or by cheque. Donations can be made by cheque, payable to Portland College or via http://www.justgiving.com/portlandcollege. Are you planning a fundraising event to help this campaign?
