Mint fundraiser for Sutton swimmer

A fundraising meal to support Ashfield Paralympian Ollie Hynd MBE as taken place as he gears up for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this year.

The London 2012 Gold Medallist was at the Mint Restaurant, in Clerkson Street at the weekend, along with guests including Mansfield Mayor Tony Egginton and Miss Mansfield Grace Turner.

The event raised more than £1,715 , which will go towards the Sutton-born athlete’s training expenses as he gets set for Glasgow and Rio 2016.

Ollie won three medals at London 2012, including a Gold for the 200m individual medley and was awarded the MBE in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List.

Last year Ollie, who has muscular dystrophy, followed up his Paralympic success in the IPC World Championships in Canada, netting two golds and a bronze.
