Miss Great Britain live finals: what to expect

A student teacher representing Mansfield in the Miss Great Britain final is appealing for donations to raise more money for sick children.

Holly Mowbray (23) is using her Miss Great Britain campaign to raise as much as possible for Rainbows Hospice For Children And Young People.

The 23 year-old, who studies primary education at the University of Derby, said the charity was a vital help for children with life-limiting illnesses and their parents.

She added: “While working with children and having them as family you do not like to think of them missing out on a childhood.”

So far Holly, who worked at White Post Farm and the White Post public house, has raised money in a number of ways including face painting and a 24-hour stay-awake challenge.

No easy feat when you suffer from narcolepsy as she does.

Holly will compete against girls from across the country in the final of Miss Great Britan in Leicester on 13th and 14th November.

She said: “I am a little nervous now, but will be more nervous on the night when it sinks in.

“I think the most important thing is to ignore negative comments and remember why you are there.

“Keeping in touch with your family and friends network on the day really helps.”

Holly’s next charity challenge is abseiling down Derby Cathedral on 4th October.
