A-level student Bethanie Ulyett (17), of Blidworth, is vying for the title of Miss Teen Great Britain 2014 , which is open to girls across the country aged from 15 to 19.

Bethanie said: “I absolutely loved taking part in Miss Mansfield, it was lots of fun, so I thought I’d give this a try. I got straight through to the semi-finals which was brilliant news.”

“I want other normal young girls from this area to know that there really is nothing stopping us from fulfilling our teenage dreams and doing Mansfield proud.”

The national competition has no size, height or weight restrictions and aims to ‘celebrate the beauty of every teenager’. Judges remarked on Bethanie’s hair and ‘stunning green eyes’.

During the coming rounds, judges will assess personality too.

The semi-finals of the pageant will be held online next April, with the final to take place in Blackpool next August.

The overall winner takes home £1,000 plus other prizes including a modelling portfolio.

Although Bethanie would like to do some modelling work in the future, she wants to concentrate on her studies.

A pupil at Joseph Whitaker School,Rainworth, she is taking four A-levels and plans to go to university to study for a degree in psychology.
