Miss Mansfield to use her musical talent to impress Miss England judges

Our local beauty queen is planning to use her musical talents to charm judges in the Miss England contest later this year.It has been a crazy journey for Jessica Boot (19) since becoming Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest in October, but when she found out she would be competing nationally, she knew it was her chance to show off her musical flair. The talent round will see her perform an original song.Jess has always loved to sing, play guitar and piano, but was always shy in front of a crowd until she won the local pageant. She said: “I was the girl that would just sit in her room writing music that would only ever be heard by her family.“But the competition has made me to socialise with people all over Mansfield and now I’m much more confident.”Her grand prize for becoming Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest was a trip to Mansfield’s sister city in the USA where she got to showcase her music to hundreds on the Miss Ohio stage.“The experience was incredible and something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”Jess is holding a music-based charity event on 17th July at the One Call Stadium. In her eight months as Miss Mansfield and Sherwood Forest so far, Jess has realised that beauty contests are “very much different to what people expect” and they have come a long way from being a “huge stigma”.

“The contest shows beauty in so many different forms,” she said. “And raising money for charity is heavily involved.”

Her last charity event raised a whopping £1,500 for ‘Women Kind’, focusing on fundamental female right.

She is also now focusing on preparing for the Miss England Final at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on the 13th-14th August.
