The CEO of Tramlink says he is looking to increase the number of parking spaces at Hucknall tram stop.

Sherwood MP Mark Spencer met with CEO Steve Lowe, to discuss the parking problems at the tram stop following complaints from constituents.

Mr Spencer said: “Residents are always coming to me to talk about parking problems in Hucknall, both free parking in town and a lack of parking for the tram. Many say that if you get there after 8.45/9am there is no space, and that is certainly the experience I’ve had when my wife and I use it to go shopping in Nottingham.”

Mr Lowe said the company are looking at options to improve the number of spaces. He said: “We have recently started a study to try and find a way forward. The solution has to be economically viable, but we recognise that there is a problem and a potential opportunity here and we are seriously looking for a way to increase parking capacity.”

The route of the newly expanded lines now allows people in Hucknall to travel directly to the Queen’s Medical Centre, as well as to the NG2 Business Park, opening up job opportunities.
