Motorists warned of delays due to roadworks in Hucknall

Continued improvements to Hucknall town centre will see road closures commence on Monday for a fortnight.

The Hucknall town centre improvement scheme will see the High Street pedestrianised between Baker Street and Watnall Road.

There will also be new roads and junctions to reduce congestion in the town.

A new road from Station Road (Ashgate Road) to Baker Street (Annesley Road) will be built. The new road will be a single carriageway with a 30 mph speed limit enforced.

In the new pedestrian zone, delivery vehicles will only be allowed to enter this area before 10am and after 4pm.

The scheme will also include a flood relief culvert under the new road to deal with the increased amount of flooding in the town in recent years.

From Monday 14 to Friday 18 March, Linby Road will be closed between Station Road and Linby Avenue, with residents access via Church Lane. Pedestrians will not be affected.

Between Wednesday and Friday 18, Station Road will be closed at the High Street (Byron Cinema) to Wigwam Lane, Ashgate Road, Linby Road and Thoresby Dale junctions will all be closed with diversions in place for resurfacing works on the new junction. The closures will be between 8pm and 6am.

On Saturday, March 19, Linby Road rail crossing is closed between 8pm and 6am - a local diversion will be in place. Whilst on Sunday, March 20 there will be a new road layout on Station Road with temporary four-way traffic lights implemented on the junction of High Street, Portland Road, Station Road and Duke Street.

And on the week commencing March 21, the work on the new road layout on Station Road will continue, with temporary two-way traffic lights on Titchfield Street for a Drainage Crossing until Sunday, March 27, when work is scheduled to finish, although this is subject to change.
