CARING Bulwell Labour MP Graham Allen has pledged his backing to a campaign to tackle deadly illnesses that claim the lives of eight million children a year.

Mr Allen is supporting Save The Children’s ‘No Child Born Without A Chance’ initiative.

“I am very proud to support this campaign,” said Mr Allen. “We must ensure that, in today’s world, no child is cruelly left to be a victim of treatable illnesses.

“We have a responsibility to protect the most vulnerable, and it is a responsibility that I am not willing to ignore.

“It is heartbreaking to see so many children’s lives and potential wasted. All the more so for knowing this could have been prevented.”

Mr Allen has been a driving force behind the Early Intervention scheme, which is designed to give children in Britain a better start in life. The aim is to deter them from a life of crime and anti-social behaviour.
