MP says thanks for salon

Budding young Skegby entrepreneur Vicky Mercer has been praised by her MP for creating much needed employment opportunities.

Tribute was paid by Ashfield’s Gloria De Piero after the thirty eight year-old took on three new employees. She is already looking to recruit another one later this year.

Relocating Uppercut hair and beauty salon from Victoria Street, Stanton Hill, to a bigger salon on the High Street has meant the business can now offer gents’ barbers services, a ladies’ salon, beauty treatments, a vertical sunbed, spray tanning and a foot health clinic.

Said Vicky: “It has taken us six months to get the new place ready and it is great to have the doors open for customers. It is really exciting and to get the praise from our MP is and added bonus.”

Ms De Piero said: “It is fantastic to see young business women like Vicky being successful and creating new jobs for people in the district. It is this kind of entrepreneurial spirit that needs support and I wish Vicky and her team all the very best for the future.”

The salon was officially opened by John Lamb, Vicky’s previous employer who ran the salon as a barbers, before she took over.

Uppercut hair and beauty salon is open Tuesdays between 9am-5pm, Wednesday 9am-1pm, Thursday 9am-6pm, Fridays 9am-7pm and Saturday 9am-4pm.
