‘Made in Derbyshire’ will take place throughout 2015 and will promote the Derbyshire economy locally and nationally through culture, heritage and sporting events, products and festivals.

It will bring together existing events and activities and promote them to wider audiences. A particular focus will be highlighting events and products unique to the county.

Coun Ellie Wilcox, Derbyshire County Council deputy cabinet member for health and communities, said: “We have a rich cultural heritage in this county that we can be very proud of.

“This exciting campaign will celebrate Derbyshire’s distinctive local culture and showcase the county’s grassroots talent, art, crafts to create benefits far beyond 2015.

“It will also boost our local communities by increasing tourism and visitor spend and encouraging people to join together to organise events.”

Established festivals like the county council’s Food and Drink Fair and Literature Festival will benefit from extra promotion, while more recent events like this year’s cycling festival will be in the spotlight as well. ‘Made in Derbyshire’ will also promote community-based events like well dressings and town festivals along with performing arts events and visitor attractions.

Made in Derbyshire 2015 is being organised by Derbyshire County Council in partnership with the Culture Derbyshire Partnership Board, English Heritage and the University of Derby.
