FROM a lady requesting an audience with The Queen to someone asking if it’s OK to exercise a kestrel at a local tip, Notts County Council receives some unusual queries amongst the 630,000 calls it deals with every year.
To coincide with the launch of its new number - 0300 500 80 80 — this week, the county council’s customer service centre has revealed some of some of the strangest requests it has received since it was launched in 2008.
These include “Is it OK to walk my donkey on a public footpath?” and “I lost my trainers on the way home from the pub last night. Has anyone handed them in?”
Since the centre opened in July 2008, it has handled a staggering 1.75 million enquiries. Although some of them were bizarre, a spokesman stressed that the vast majority were about the wide range of important public services which the council provides.
