New team puts the Bridge on the map

A Sutton pub has had its fortunes transformed after a major investment and new management team were introduced.

Since taking on The Fountain Bridge just over a year ago, manage Michael Perry and his partners have turned it round to be one of the most successful pubs in the area.

Michael Perry said: “To be successful you have to provide an excellent service and give customers what they want.

“In our case it is consistently good food at great value for money prices.

“It’s not enough to open the doors and expect customers to come to you. You have to keep pace with customer expectations and continue to invest and adapt your offer accordingly. In our case, we’re looking to create a children’s play area and introduce theme nights to enhance the Fountain Bridge experience.”

The pub is planning a £5 charity Carvery Heaven with money raised going towards Guide Dogs for the Blind. Their efforts are focussed on raising £5,000 over two years for a guide dog, which will be named Heaven. The team has already raised £1,500 since September from cake sales, raffles and a collection tin on the bar.

Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero visited the pub to help the team toast their success. She said: “It was a real pleasure to meet Michael and his staff All of their hard work has paid dividends and really transformed the pub. It’s a good to see any local businesses doing well and long may it continue.”
