A CHRISTMAS cracker is set to return to the Dispatch district’s top tourist-attraction, Newstead Abbey.
For Nottingham City Council has revived an event that involves the ancestral home of the poet Lord Byron being decked out in festive finery.
‘Christmas At Newstead’ is running on Saturday December 10, Sunday December 11, Saturday December 17 and Sunday December 18 — after it was axed last year to save money.
Features include stunning floral displays, created by students from New College Nottingham, in the Great Hall, cloisters and a selection of rooms.
Music will accompany visitors as they walk round the historic building, soaking up the Christmas atmosphere.
Festive favourites, including turkey and cranberry sauce, will also be served in the abbey cafe. Tickets are on sale now.
