Nottingham City Council raise thousands for Movember

Nottingham City Council employees have raised over £6,400 in aid of Movember.

A total of 80 people from the Council including five women and two councillors, joined the Movember cause back at the start of November to raise much needed funds for men’s health charities including Prostate Cancer UK.

Finishing the month ranked in the top 70 teams out of tens of thousands across the UK was an amazing achievement and the Nottingham City Council Movember Team was proud to be the highest ranked council team in the UK.

By encouraging men (Mo Bros) and women (Mo Sistas) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.

Besides getting an annual check-up, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of any family history of cancer, and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Coun Wendy Smith, who took part in Movember, said: “We are delighted to have raised so much money for such a good cause and hopefully next year we’ll raise even more.”
