Nottinghamshire County Council launch tender process for substance misuse management service

The tender process was launched on Monday following extensive public and stakeholder consultations on new models for both services.

The start of the process has been welcomed by Coun Joyce Bosnjak, Deputy Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, and Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board:

“Responsibility for Public Health moving to Local Authorities in 2013 offered us a great opportunity to improve how we provide these really important services for the people of Nottinghamshire.

“We were delighted at how many people engaged in both consultation processes, and thank everyone for their valuable input, which has helped us to shape new models on how these services will look.

“We have now got to a position where we can introduce models for both obesity and substance misuse which will be more focussed on achieving results, which will introduce a consistent approach county-wide, and that are based on evidence.

“Most importantly this means that residents across Nottinghamshire can expect more effective services that offer better value for tax-payer’s money.

“We welcome all bids as part of the tender process - including from existing providers, and are looking forward to seeing what organisations come up with on this opportunity to help improve health outcomes in Nottinghamshire.”

The tender process is due to close on 25 March 2014, with the mobilisation period ending on 31 July for obesity prevention and weight management services, and 30 September for substance misuse services.
