Nottinghamshire youngsters take recycling message to the airwaves

Forty-nine schools from across Nottinghamshire have taken part in the free ‘Recycling Radio Commercial Competition’ led by Veolia Environmental Services - Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste contractors.

The competition offered pupils an exciting and unique hands-on opportunity via the ‘U Create Project’ to produce and record their own radio advert.

Students were tasked to write a recycling radio commercial to encourage people to recycle at home and take the recycling message into the community so that everyone can all make a difference.

Schools recorded their entry online using technology from U Create - an engaging project that uses an e-learning platform from UTV Media, designed to provide an opportunity to produce and broadcast a radio commercial.

The winning commercial will be professionally produced and broadcast on a Nottingham local radio station and featured online for all to hear.
