Notts firm storms awards night

A Nottinghamshire construction firm is celebrating its success after winning two prestigious awards.

Staff at Robert Woodhead Limited are celebrating taking home two accolades from the Committed to Construction in the East Midlands Awards.

The ceremony, held at the Crowne Plaza in Nottingham, was attended by the region’s top construction firms, suppliers and partners.

The Nottinghamshire firm scooped Contractor of the Year and Committed to Corporate Responsibility awards.

The Committed to Construction Awards are held by the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) each year to celebrate excellence in the industry.

The judges said: “ We considered the family-owned contractor provided clear evidence of their commitment to embedding the sustainability agenda throughout their processes in supply chain development, corporate social responsibility and environmental performance.

“There is clear evidence that the company is highly regarded for its approach to the community, work within the community and to its clients and customers.”

The firm also received a ‘highly commended’ spot in the Committed to Sustainability category for their work with Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes on its Building a Better Nottingham scheme.

The £2.85m project included building 26 sustainable family homes and bungalows, built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, meeting the Lifetime Homes standards and sustainable technologies such as photo-voltaic panels.

Glenn Slater, business development director at Robert Woodhead Ltd, said: “I am incredibly proud to say we are taking two awards away from the Committed to Construction in the East Midlands Awards.

“It is a great achievement for everyone at Robert Woodhead. Our commitment is not just to the building projects themselves, but the communities we are working in. We know we have the opportunity as a local SME to deliver social environmental and economic value on the projects we deliver.”
