Karl Hanifin took the shaver from the Ollerton branch of the store on June 16, and then failed to turn up to court on July 4.

Probation officer Sarah Todd told the court he had been offered ten appointments but had not turned up for any of them.

“There has been a complete lack of engagement,” she said.

Hanifin, 32, of Dove Croft, Ollerton, admitted the theft and failures to surrender, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Wednesday.

District judge Jonathan Taaffe told him: “You’re subject to a community order that hasn’t got off the ground and you’re not cooperating with the probation service or the drug rehabilitation team.”

He revoked a community order made on May 21, for four thefts, and imposed a total of 18 weeks in custody.

When released, Hanifin must also pay a £115 government surcharge.
