One arrest in Mansfield during Saturday night crackdown

During the evening there was just one arrest, following a refusal to comply with a direction to leave.

Inspector Neil Priestley said premises – who had been made aware of the work - were proactive with regards to refusing entry to drunken people, and having staff in the premises to monitor this.

Bar staff were observed to ensure they did not serve anyone who had already had enough alcohol and door supervisors were watched to check they were not allowing people in who appeared drunk or who are subject to bans.

The project also involved Mansfield District Council’s Licensing Officer, council wardens and Mansfield Street Pastors.

Inspector Priestley said: “We wanted to make sure that people did not put themselves or others at risk as a result of drinking too heavily, using illegal substances, or getting into disputes over taxis. The focus was on vulnerable people.

“Overall I felt the evening went very well and I will be writing to the relevant premises individually to thank them for their assistance in achieving this.”

MPAC Nights of Action are run on a regular basis with a range of organisations involved in their planning and delivery. Each has a different theme and previous ones have included drink-driving, theft from person and domestic abuse as the focal points.

Further nights are planned for the coming months.
