One lane of M1 southbound closed after tanker leaves embankment

One lane of the M1 southbound between Junction 29 and 29A has been closed after an traffic accident.

An articulated tanker left the carriageway and went down an embankment at around 12.49 this afternoon.

The lorry driver had to be freed from his cabin by fire crews from Chesterfield and Staveley.

The tanker was carrrying 25,000 litres of non hazardous material.

Lanes two and three of the M1 between both junctions remain open but there are still severe delays
