Now as you go down Nuthall Road you will see rising out of the ground the once in a lifetime opportunity to expand and modernise is underway.

Our local young people need a place that provides qualifications and skills so they can get jobs.

More than 1,436 young people have been unemployed for over a year in the North of the City.

We are eighth from bottom of the league of 650 constituencies .

Right on our doorstep local young people will be able to gain the new qualifications and skills that Basford Hall will offer, making them work ready in an increasingly tough job market.

Construction, green energy,tiling,plastering,painting and decorating, surveying, plumbing and gas refrigeration and air conditioning, electrical installation, fabrication and welding, civil engineering and building services are just some of the many courses on offer.

Basford Hall will offer education and training to learners aged from 16+, including those leaving school, retraining for a new career or undertaking Apprenticeships.

Investment and renewal in Nottingham has been occurring at pace in the city centre and in the south of the city, however the speed of renewal in the north of the city has been slower.

The areas surrounding Basford Hall – Bilborough, Aspley, Basford, Bulwell and Bestwood - fall within the 30 per cent most deprived areas in England.

Now that Basford Hall can be the spark to revive our local economy, I can’t wait to see the finished product.
