Our famous outlaw is the focus of two big events over the next few weeks.
Firstly, the county council will host the 31st annual Robin Hood Festival at legendary Sherwood Forest from August 3 to 9 with a week-long programme of family fun and entertainment.
And festival organisers will promote the forthcoming Theatre Royal production of Hood – The Legend Continues, which takes place at the theatre from September 17 to 26 which also celebrates the 150th anniversary of the theatre.
Festival goers can also send in their Robin Hood Festival selfies #sherwoodselfie to win a pair of tickets to see Hood - The Legend Continues on Friday 18 September.
Our annual Robin Hood Festival is one of the undoubted highlights of our events calendar – it is a week of celebration of Robin and his Merry Men in his Sherwood Forest home with medieval mayhem and entertainment for the whole family.
The festival also gives us the opportunity to promote the Theatre Royal’s forthcoming production – Hood – The Legend Continues – and the theatre’s unique take on Robin Hood. Both events are certain to be a treat for all fans of Robin Hood.
Robert Sanderson, Theatre Royal managing director, added: “Our new production of HOOD – The Legend Continues in September will re-tell the legends of Robin Hood in a modern era, but all the characters will be instantly recognisable as Robin, Marian, the Merry Men and the Sheriff. “We will be celebrating these much-loved characters of legend, as they are each year at the ever-popular Robin Hood Festival, too, of course. It seems entirely fitting that in the Theatre Royal’s special 150th anniversary year we are able to contribute another strand to the ongoing story of Nottingham’s most famous hero, this time for a new generation.”
