Yuletide rush set to begin

Well the Christmas period is almost upon us again!

The tree and decorations are already up in our local office, it is hard to believe that it is nearly five years since we opened our constituency office in the Under One Roof building on Vine Terrace.

As always anyone is welcome to pop in and see us whenever you like, we are just off the High Street behind the Byron Cinema.

The roadworks have at last finished on the High Street so we can have some return to normality, this is just as well as the Christmas rush will no doubt start soon.

I have regular meetings with the local police, and it’s great news that crime in Hucknall has gone down in recent weeks which continues the trend of the last few months, but I would still be careful and keep your cars and garages locked up over the Christmas period.

It’s better to be safe than sorry.

I attended the Hucknall Remembrance service on Sunday 9th November and I was so pleased to see so many of you there.

It was a great commemoration and great to see so many people gathered together to pay tribute to those we lost during the First World War.

We must never forget those soldiers who gave their lives so that we might experience freedom.

As the British Armed Forces continue around the world to counter terrorism and bring stability it is a constant reminder of the eternal bravery and sacrifice necessary to maintain freedom.

I am in continuing dialogue with Rolls Royce, the staff and unions to try and ensure that good communication continues and the workforce don’t feel as if they are being left in the dark over certain decisions.

I met with a small group of staff at our Hucknall office recently to discuss the situation and make sure as best I can that the workforce are being regularly updated by the company as it assesses its future.

I will continue to try and protect the highly skilled workforce and their jobs.

As usual I will be attending a number of Christmas fairs and events so be sure to say hello if you see me on the High Street.

I do hope everyone gets some time off to relax and celebrate over the festive period.

As always if you would like to chat to me or have any issues or queries you would like to discuss please drop me an email at [email protected] or call my office on 0115 968 1186.

Our office will be closed over the Christmas period so if you think you might need our help during that time please get in touch as soon as you can.
