Letter: Don’t waste all that food
I have to express my concern over the vast amount of food-stuffs that is wasted today by most average consumers.
I feel that we are exploited by the distributors and manufacturers - the “sell-by-dates” are far too critical - there are very many consumers out there like my friend who is absolutely fanatic and obsessed by rejecting any food or drink item that is one day beyond the “sell-by-date” ! !
I am a 93 year-old RAF Bomber Command Veteran with two years service in the Middle East -having lived on the brink of extinction between 1939/1945 and through to today have never experienced any problems due to dodgy-food and have ever considered it safe to ignore up to 3 days after the stated “sell-by-date” !
