Outdoor play thanks to Lottery

A FIRST open-air play session was held by Bulwell Community Toy Library last weekend — after the group landed a much-needed grant of £9,000 from the National Lottery.

The weekly scheme will run from Bulwell Hall Park near the toy library’s Norwich Gardens base and is intended to boost family support in the area.

Not only is it a way for families to get outside and get active together, the initiative is aimed at helping parents interact with each other and give each other support.

“It is hoped that we can maximise on the time that families use the park by helping them think about creative activities,” explained toy library manager, Steve Parkinson

“We don’t want to detract from their time spent together but focus them and bring people together to make them feel at home in their own community.”

The free sessions, which are supported by library staff, are aimed at under fives and will run on Saturday mornings in term time only in all weathers.

Mr Parkinson added: “The project will help families all year round and enhance their environment.”
