Family fun was the order of the day last Saturday when Papplewick held their annual summer fete.
However, there was a change of venue for the third year running to neighbouring Linby when organisers decided to move under-cover when bad weather threatened the event.
“We started setting up early on Saturday and it began to rain and was quite windy so we made the decision to move it to Linby,” said fete co-ordinator and church warden, Keith Tunstall.
“The forecast looked bad so we relocated to the barn at Hall Farm whose owners kindly accommodated us.”
It was a decision well made as a lunchtime downpour failed to dampen the spirits or the many visitors to the popular event.
“There were lots of children’s games, stalls and a raffle to help towards the fundraising as well as a children and adult bake off competition,” added Keith.”It was a great success raising £3,500 for St Michael’s at Linby and St James’ Church in Papplewick. “
