Many with youngsters attending the school vowed to remove them permanently and are demanding answers from the school and the education authority.

It is believed that the man, who is thought to be in his 40s and is a relative of a child which attends the school, was called in for the meeting over concerns of his past.

It is alleged that he has served jail time for a violent attack on a man and raping a three-year-old girl. It is also thought that he is still on the sex offenders’ register.

When Chad contacted the school following a tip-off, a spokesman at the school said ‘We’re not prepared to make any comment’ before inquiring about the nature of our call.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that they were aware of the situation, and were concerned that angry parents would gather outside the school gates. As a result, the meeting between the man and the headteacher, was cancelled.

Police said a patrol car was parked outside the school this morning and they had stepped up patrols.

Now several parents have contacted Chad to vent their anger at the school for a lack of communication, furious that nobody had contacted them about the scheduled meeting.

Many found out after a letter was circulated yesterday between parents.

One, who asked not to be named, said: “I wasn’t at the school gate yesterday when these letters were handed out but I found out from a relative who also has a child at the school at about 8pm last night.

“I could quite easily have taken my child into school today and known nothing about it. My daughter’s classroom is right next to the office where this meeting was supposed to take place. I’ve not taken my child into school today and I know a lot of parents have also kept their children off.

“I’ve contacted Ofsted but they say I need to make a complaint to the governors. This morning we received a text message from the school saying that the meeting had been cancelled and apologising for the distress that has been caused but that just isn’t good enough.

“When I first heard about this I thought it was just a hoax.”
