Parents of a Blidworth baby with an incurable brain condition are appealing for help to buy her a much needed hydrotherapy pool

Tiny Evalyn Carr was born with an incurable brain condition which means she suffers from seizures poor muscle tone and feeding difficulties.

Her parents Michelle, 32 and Jonathan 43, say a special Swim Spa pool will offer much needed therapy for their 15 month old daughter and could be shared with youngsters with similar conditions in the area.

They are appealing for help in raising the £13,000 needed to buy one outright.

Michelle said: “Evalyn was was born happy and healthy or so we thought. But over the last 15 months we have discovered she was born with a rare Brain Migration Disorder called Pachygyria.

“Evie is unable to sit, crawl or walk and is unlikely to learn to talk or walk.

“With hydrotherapy we can give her the best change of learning to walk with building strength and tone to be able to support herself.”

She said in some countries hydrotherapy is seen as a vital part of conventional medicine but here in the UK it is seen as complementary therapy offered to a very select few at a one-off six week (once a week) blocks.

Michelle added: “There are only a couple of hydrotherapy pools in Nottinghamshire which charge £50 an hour hire only, which is why when we manage to buy the pool we would also like to open up the use of the hydro pool to a few children in our local community with similar issues as Evalyn, this will be run with help from our physiotherapist.”
